Midnight Thoughts: Do you Forgive or Forget?

Hello People,

How is your weekend going? Mine was going smooth until I had a long convo with my grandmother and now I really can’t sleep.

I do have a problem a very serious problem. I do forgive but I don’t forget, so every time I remember why I am hurt I hate the person all over again and rather to listen to they sorry excuses of why they mess up, I just ignore them and don’t talk to them anymore.

I do miss them, OH DO I MISS THEM! but I just can’t forget. I was talking to my grandmother today and I came to the realization that the reason why I am not 100% happy (well I am 98.9% happy) is because it is so hard for me to let go of the anger, so hard to forget.

I will forgive you and maybe try to talk to you, but as soon as I remember what happened I will come back to my ‘not liking you’ self again.

But why it so hard to forget?

Why do I think that people are going to hurt me all over again?

Maybe because I have trust issues.

But WHY?

I mean do not get me wrong, I do not hate people, for the contraire I actually pray for those who did me wrong, but I just cannot forget the pain they put me through.

Am I wrong?

Do you remember the TV Show Forgive or Forget between 1998-1999? I used to love that show. I remember how nervous I felt when they have to walk to the door to see whether the person forgave them or forgot them and I actually felt so sad when they didn’t forgave them, when they have to walk back to their chair crying.

But I also understood the people that forgot them I mean How much pain a human can handle from the people that we love (the people that supposed love us)?

Do you Forgive or Forget?

I hope you are having a very relaxing weekend

  1. I’m with you entirely. Forgive, yes; forget no. Why would you forget something that is part of your story with another person. Forgiveness enables us to put the resentment behind us; anything forgotten remains suppressed anyway
